Sour Patch Kids Remix
One week later after Seard Foie Gras with Quince and Cranberry, and this song is still getting solid play on my iPod. Talib delivers as usual, and the severely underappreciated Blu gives a great verse. Travis Barker did a great job remixing the beat, and the hook shines even brighter.

Underrated Song of the Week: Prowler 2
This is a couple weeks old, but it flew under the radar. Unrelenting beat, and showcase verses by Elechanukkah (swagger like no other), Pretty Flaco (flow is unmatchable), and Jean Grae (a girl that can rap? Damn). Joell Ortiz is on it too, but he sounds like a whiney bitch, so skip that.
On a side note, debut mixtape from Robert Wadlow, the Robert Wadlow LP, will be dropping on June 1, in the year of the Lord 2010. This is a couple years in the working, and guarantees to be a refreshing release in a world saturated with generic sound.

Also, I happened upon an email from Sara down in Florida. She's got a bunch of mash-ups on his Myspace, you should definitely check it out. Yusek Ft. Chromeo - So Down
Another disco jam, this time from France’s Yuksek. Although the word means “high” in Turkish, Pierre-Alexandre Busson (unmistakably French) claims he just liked the way the word sounded, or rather how it didn’t sound like everything else in the electronic world. But what is in a name anyway? This fellow has put out some pretty great music of his own alongside some nice remixes for some pretty high profile artists, which you can conveniently find on his website.
This track, “So Down”, has been around for a while, but it’s still tres super. It features Chromeo, so it automatically has some pretty solid street cred, but one the song really begins after the harsh and abrupt intro, the funky disco keys hold up all on their own. And it’s a pretty confident song lyrically, too, perhaps bordering on arrogant. “I’ve seen you walk in front of me/That body’s makin’ it hard to breathe/Better run and tell the guy you’re seein’/When he’s gone I’m doin’ it better.” But, really, isn’t that “confidence” sort of what electronic music is all about?

I Need A Dollar Remix- Poe Picasso
This instrumental is one of the nicest I've heard in a while. It's the theme song for "How to Make It In America," Cudi's show on HBO that has turned out to be surprisingly good. A few guys have tried to use this beat, but Poe Picasso has the best product out of any I've heard so far.

Shepard Fairey "May Day" Exhibition at Deitch Projects
Shepard Fairey will be exhibiting new works at Deitch Projects from May 1st in an exhibition entitled “May Day”.
“Deitch Projects is pleased to present May Day, an exhibition of new work by Shepard Fairey, as its final project. Titled not only in reference to the day of the exhibition’s opening, the multiple meanings of May Day resonate throughout the artist’s new body of work. Originally a celebration of spring and the rebirth it represents, May Day is also observed in many countries as International Worker’s Day or Labor Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations coordinated by unions and socialist groups. “Mayday” is also the distress signal used by pilots, police and firefighters in times of emergency.”

The Get By - NYC Skaters
Radcollector puts us on to “The Get By”, an HBO documentary about skateboarding in New York City. “HBO has been pushing the hell out of their series “How to Make it in America” and as part of their efforts have just dropped this mini-documentary, “The Get By” about being a skater and making it in the industry in the dopest city in the world. It’s impossible to front on all the ill footage of NYC skatespots and interviews with Billy Rohan, Gino Iannucci, Anthony Pappalardo, Zered Basset, Todd Jordan and many more, but you can’t help but think it’s a little suspect that HBO produced this very real documentary just to hype a fake show. Maybe they should make “The Get By” a series and drop the other one.”
