Electronic Department Back in Business

So I have returned from my 3 week stay in Israel and it was amazing. As this is a music blog I will focus on the music aspect and let me tell you, the shit they're playing there is on a whole other level. No only is Euro-MTV light years better than the bull- that they subject us to here in the states, the club music is insane. Except for some reason 16 and pregnant is just as, if not more, popular as it is here.

In the next couple of days I will post some really good Israeli techno or as they call it "disco-tech."

But for now I just want to share this one chill electronic song and a remix I came across somewhere on t.v. late at night after partying in Tel-Aviv... I think at that's where I heard it at least.

Behind the Scenes of the "Muddy Swin Trunks" Vid

Asher and crew shot a vid for the first track off the Seared Foie Gras mixtape, and documented some of the shenanigans. I love these guys because they genuinely enjoy what they are doing, and never take themselves too seriously. Also, there's tits for like half a second in the vid ("Very nice!"). Watch it before it gets taken down.

A Sufi and A Killer

One word: Soundscape Trip. Gonjasufi is the epitome of the west coast. Anyone with a name like Gonjasufi would be assumed to exists in a lifted state of mind who--and i'm gonna go out on a limb here--does drugs. All natural of course. He's a rapper, singer, disk jockey, and apparently yoga teacher initially from San Diego and now residing in Las Vegas (for the peyote I assume) with some of the illest dreads I've ever seen. That shit is crazy.

His 21 track album A Killer and a Sufi is a psychedelic piece of art. Just made a new playlist on my iTunes and "Change," "Ancestors," "Candylane," and "Dust" have been put on repeat often. What's the best part for those willing to enjoy this album for free? The whole album is posted here as a .rar file. If you don't know what a .rar file is Google: 7 Zip and that will easily open it for you. This is some of the most relaxing / experimental music of 2010. Electronic, hip hop, reggae, blues, rhythm, jazz, etc. It's f***ing sick. I recommend all of them,

Interesting fact: I took an Islamic studies class, the Sufis are a sect within Islam that happen to be super chill and mystical. I don't know what the Gonja part means.

Rusko- OMG!

Alright so Rusko is arguably the most recognized icon in dubstep music right now. He released his new album OMG! on May 4th and the reviews are very mixed. His hardcore fans say he disappoints and misleads with the track "Woo Boost" as the rest of the album steers away from the heavy "wobble" and bass they have come to worship. I personally like OMG! although I have to agree that it's way different from what we expect from Rusko. To be honest "Woo Boost" is my favorite track although "Hold On" and "Scareware" are also ILL. All around I'd say the 14 tracks are worth buying. Check it out on iTunes or search the world wide web for downloads.

Black Keys are coming to Buffalo!!!!

The Black Keys are on tour right now to promote their upcoming album Brothers due for release on May 18th. They're playing Buffalo's Town Ballroom on September 2nd which is SICK. The Black Keys are on the top of my list of blues / jam / rock bands, and are gods when performing live. This promises to be one of the best concerts happening this year, and it will be a great way to end the summer / kick off the coming academic year. I'll be there.
