Ahh Bonjour Sebastien

Sebastien Tellier described his album Sexuality as “music that would sexually excite people in an Italian or Latin sense of sexual music; the big seducer with the broken heart.” The album may be meant for baby making, but Sexuality Remix, created two years later, is meant for house parties and clubs.

The remixed album has electro heavyweights like A-Trak, Kavinsky, and Boyz Noize, plus many more putting their touch on the sensual songs. Dance tracks like “Sexual Sportswear” remixed by SebastiAn , and A-Trak’s “Kilometer” remix will make you want to jam out in a French club till the sun comes up.

Mellower songs like “Elle” remixed by Kasper Winding and Floating points’ remix of “L’amour et la Violence” are equally as good as the faster paced songs. Floating Points mixes drum and bass with heavy synths to make a song totally different and more upbeat to Tellier’s grief stricken electric piano version.

Boyz Noize’s remix of “L’amour et la Violence” stands out above the rest. The techno artist, similar to Justice mixed with Daft Punk, speeds up the piano riff and adds heavy drums and synths; yet the song still shares the characteristics of Tellier’s original and most intimate track from his 2008 album. The remix is fast paced and full of energy, and perfectly portrays the theme of Sexuality Remix.

Instead of steamy R&B from the first album, Sexuality Remix transforms these tracks into club bangers. The new Sexuality is full of producers putting their take on Tellier’s most popular songs from his 2008 album. Although this is just an album full of remixes, it is the perfect LP for getting your groove on.

A Little Bit O' Mo-Town and Some Funk

L.A.’s Mayer Hawthorne is back with his new track “No Strings”. Classixx produced this funky mo-town track and the beat is what really makes this song. Listening to this will make you think your grooving out with Rick James after raising hell in downtown Buffalo. Classixx also did the intoxicating remix to Hawthorne’s 2009 track “Green Eyed Love”.

Hawthorne also released his upcoming Mazda2 tour dates for this year. He’s hitting all the big cities around the U.S. including Boston, New York and Washington D.C.

Of Clowns, Romans, and Tigers

Monsieur Adi is heavily influenced by French house music; the single from his debut album out this spring, “We are the Romans,” proves that even though he’s Italian, French band Daft Punk heavily influenced his style. His music sounds like “dirty spoiled European aristocracy” he says. It’s definitely European….

“I Can Make The Pain Disappear” by Fear of Tigers and Ellie Goulding’s “Starry Eyed” are solid remixes, both better than the original. He has crazy style and his music video for Starry Eyed introduces us to his clown character that looks like the child of Cruella Deville and Heath Ledgers Joker.

All three of these songs are solid and definitely worth downloading. Look out for his album it’s going to be a spring banger for sure.

Vive La France!

“This moment” by French Horn Rebellion is a funky song with groovy synths similar to a Calvin Harris song. Robert and David Perlick-Molinari were born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and now live in Brooklyn. Younger brother Robert is a skilled French horn player and he decided to use his talent with his brother David to create a psychedelic band. Their first album “The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion” comes out Nov. 9^th. The bands electro disco style is similar to some of MGMT’s songs and that would make sense because the band co produced the EP “Time to Pretend”.

This is a project two years in the making which took a summer to finally complete. What is inside is 13 songs from both borrowed and original beats complimented by the unique vocal stylings of the man himself. Worth a listen.

Cool Cover Art..

Known for his low-fi basement production style, Ariel Pink and his band Haunted Graffiti’s single “Round and Round” sounds more like a high priced and carefully created banger than a track from some bands garage. The homage to vintage rock album, Before Today gave us a repeat worthy single for the summer and coming fall. The different melodies all being connected by the circular bass line makes “Round and Round” the best track on the 2010 album. The pop like chorus is cheesy as it is cool for the avant-garde style of music Ariel Pink produced. Each melody could have been used to create a hit, but put them all together and you get one great tack.

Produced by Robot Monks From the Future

“Allan Dellon” from 2009’s Flashmob is a smooth ’80 inspired track with a mix of house drums and trancelike synths. The French electro artist is known for his hard-nosed beats but “Allen Dellon” proves that Vitallic has more in his bag of tricks than Justice like riffs.

The song begins with an exhale, like a sigh of relief, and an electric piano followed by a loop. The synth heavy loop gives the song a mesmerizing aroma, which layers and builds throughout the song. The electronic piano works like railroad tracks coming in every eight beats. The monk like hums from the electric piano and the ongoing loop hypnotize the listener.

Although this track is one of his calmer and more laid back tunes; Vitallic’s “Allan Dellon” says a lot about the versatility he has in making music.
